LES was contacted by a manufacturer of inorganic pigments located
in Eastern Ohio. This client had previously invested in an evaporator
to handle the aqueous wastes generated by plant processes. The evaporator
was not operating to the client's satisfaction.
A full scale system designed to treat 1,500 gallons of water per day
was installed. The ENVIRO-CLEAN PROCESS produced an effluent meeting
current discharge levels for chromium and cobalt. The system is effective
in removing hexavalent chromium from the waste water with removal levels
exceeding 99.2%. The feed contained 11.8 mg/l total chromium an 1.14
mg/l of hexavalent chromium. The average hexavalent chromium concentration
in the effluent was <0.009 mg/l. The effluent is crystal clear
and exhibits no trace of color. This stream can be recycled back
to the plant and drastically reduce the plant's current outfall or discharge.
